Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with families in need to build simple decent, affordable housing. The houses are sold to partnering families at no profit and with no interest charged; partner families invest hundreds of hours of labor “sweat equity” into building their homes and the homes of others. Locally, Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity placed two families in the last fiscal year; since 1995 the chapter has completed and dedicated 11 homes.

Kokopelli Suites announced today that it will host a 12 Months of Giving campaign through calendar year 2011. The campaign will focus on a different cause and charity each month. The hotel will donate $1 per new Twitter follower or Facebook friend each month to the appointed charity for the month. Monthly social media contribution will be capped at $500. In addition, the Sedona hotel will also create monthly specials aligned with the chosen charity and a portion of each reservation’s proceeds will be donated as well. There is no cap on this amount.
